Minor Tournament

The SEDMHA Honda Minor Hockey Tournament is one of the largest and we believe best, minor hockey Tournaments in North America. This tournament is a terrific way to close out the minor hockey season.

Tournament Dates

Starts: Thursday, March 26, 2026

Ends: Sunday, March 29, 2026

Games start Thursday, run throughout Friday and Saturday, with championship games on Sunday.

Location

The tournament is held throughout Halifax, Nova Scotia. We use up to 18 different ice surfaces in 11 arenas located in Halifax, Dartmouth, Cole Harbour, Bedford, Spryfield, Tantallon and East Hants.

Whether you’re local or traveling from afar, your team is invited to join the fun.

International Teams Welcome

Teams from outside North America are encouraged to apply! We’ll work with your Hockey Federation to issue an official tournament invitation and help secure all required permits.

Maximum 24 teams per division, with a maximum 250 teams tournament total.

All player ages are determined as of December 31, 2025. Please note that all divisions follow Nova Scotia hockey standards, which may differ from those in your province or state.

All participating teams must be registered minor hockey teams with provincial, state or international hockey associations. Final team placement in divisions will be determined at the discretion of the tournament committee.

Registration will open at 8am on November 1, 2025, and will close when 250 teams have been confirmed. Payment will be due within 10 days of receiving the acceptance email. Deadline for a team to withdraw with full refund is February 15, 2026.

Our tournament is a bracket format which features a unique draw system that accommodates divisions with an odd number of teams and allows for balanced competition based on skill level.

All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 3 games.

  • All games consist of three 15-minute stop-time periods.
  • Ice is flooded every 2 periods, after either the first or second period – So be aware there may not be a flood at the beginning of your game.
  • Championship Finals will have a flood after the second period

TEAMS MUST BE READY TO PLAY UP TO 20 MINUTES EARLY. 

The all-inclusive entry fee is $1325 per team. This fee covers team registration and free admission for all parents, fans, and spectators – no additional charges at the door.

The tournament features a wide range of awards, celebrating team achievement and individual excellence.

NEW THIS SEASON. The SEDMHA Cup will be available to the winning teams for photos only after the Championship game. The cup MUST be returned. 

Awards are distributed as follows:

4–7 teams: 

Odyssey Division:

  • 1st place: 1 banner, 20 gold medals and 20 hoodies for championship team
  • 2nd place – 20 silver medals and 20 t-shirts.

8–11 teams:

Odyssey Division:

  • 1st & 2nd place awards (same as above)

Accord Division:

  • 1st place: 1 banner, 20 gold medals and 20 hoodies for winning team. 
  • 2nd place – 20 silver medals and 20 t-shirts.

12 or more teams:

Odyssey Division:

  • 1st & 2nd place awards (same as above)

Accord Division:

  • 1st & 2nd place awards (same as above)

Civic Winner:

  • 20 Bronze Medals and 20 t-shirts

Each game will feature two MVP awards – one player selected from each team.

All players and coaching staff will receive a commemorative SEDMHA Tournament souvenir as a thank-you for participating.

All transportation during the tournament is the responsibility of each individual team.
