U9 Jamboree Rules

U9 JAMBOREE RULES

A. GAMES
1.      All games played in the Jamboree MUST be scheduled by the Jamboree Committee. All games shall consist of two 20 minute halves, a three minute warm-up with two minute break between halves.  When the buzzer sounds to end the first half, the visiting team will switch ends and switch benches, so players can play against the other half of the opposing team.
2.    U9 Jamboree games shall not have posted scores, keep statistics, select All-Stars or MVP's, or present Awards pertinent to any of these, or other, individual skills assessments which indicate the preference of one child over another.
3.    If a team is assessed a penalty, the offending player will be removed to the player bench, but the team shall not play a player short. The offending team shall put another on the ice. There shall be no power plays and no team shall play a player short during any games.
4.      In all U9 Jamboree games all players are to be treated fairly with respect to ice time distribution and situational opportunities.
5.    Players and coaches are required to be in the rink and ready to start play at least fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled game time. Players and coaches are expected to co-operate in keeping the arena's and dressing rooms clean and tidy and are liable for any vandalism or damage.
6.    NO GAME WILL BE PLAYED IF A TEAM FORFEITS.  Please reach out to jamboree organizers if you know in advance that you plan to forfeit so alternate arrangements can be made for the opposing team. The forfeiting team’s game will not be made up.
 
B. PLAYERS
1.    Players can play on one team only and cannot be drafted up, down, or across to play for another team from the same or any other association.
2.     The maximum number of players which a team may register is Twenty. Eighteen skaters plus two goaltenders - HC rule 2.2(A). The minimum number of players which can be registered is 10 ...eight skaters plus two goaltenders. Please reach out to the organising committee if you have more than twenty or less than ten players - larger teams may be accepted with the committee’s approval.
3.     Only players registered on the official Jamboree registration form may participate in the Jamboree. 
4.    Coaches or players who are suspended from play under the HNSMC Rules, or any other Provincial, State, League, or Jamboree Rules are not allowed to participate in the Jamboree unless their official suspension is completed prior to any Jamboree games in which they participate. It is the responsibility of the team officials to ensure that such suspended persons DO NOT PARTICIPATE (HC rule 2.2(h)).
5.     Requests for player changes complete with full documentation (see B(3) above) must be submitted in writing or by e-mail to the Jamboree Registrar on or before February 27th of the current Jamboree year.

C. PLAYING RULES
1.   4 on 4 Format - plus each team with a goaltender.
2.   90 second shifts in duration with an automatic buzzer to indicate player change. The clock continues to run throughout the 20 minute half.
3.   Both games are synchronized using the same clock.
4.   There will be 2 face offs during the game - 1 to start the game and 1 to start the second half.
5.   On the buzzer, players must relinquish control of the puck immediately and vacate the ice or tag up at the bench. The new players enter the ice immediately..
6.   Failure to immediately relinquish control of the puck or new players entering the ice surface prematurely may result in a penalty (see below) for the offending team.  
7.   Goaltender freezes the puck - the official blows the whistle to indicate the attacking team to back off three meters and the defending team takes possession. 
8.   Puck out of play - the offending team backs off three meters and the referee gives the non-offending team a new puck. 
9.   Penalties - Penalties will be called. Referee will explain call to offending player and coach. - Teams do not play shorthanded. The player is removed from the shift and another player is added. - For penalties that would receive a game misconduct, the player will be removed for the remainder of the game and another player will be added so the team is still at even strength. 

D, CONDUCT

  1. Any coach, player or manager who in the opinion of the TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE, as represented by the Suspension Coordinator, displays poor sportsmanship or sets a bad example shall be subject to tournament suspension under HNSMC Code of Discipline, Regulation 25.20 - ANY INCIDENT OR BEHAVIOR DETRIMENTAL TO MINOR HOCKEY.
