SEDMHA HONDA Minor Hockey Tournament

The SEDMHA Honda Minor Hockey Tournament is one of the largest and we believe best, minor hockey Tournaments in North America. This tournament is a terrific way to close out the minor hockey season.

The tournament is held throughout Halifax, Nova Scotia. We use 17 different ice surfaces in Halifax, Dartmouth, Cole Harbour, Bedford, Sackville and Tantallon.

The tournament is open to minor hockey teams offering competition for U11, U13, U15 and U18 teams in various skill categories. Once again this year SEDMHA is offering a C Recreational Category to each of our Divisions and expanding their playing time to 15 minute periods.

Teams play their first game on Thursday, March 27, 2025 in the afternoon and evening. Games continue through Friday and Saturday. The finals are held on Sunday,  March 30, 2025

FORMAT

The tournament uses a unique draw system of games which not only allows us to run divisions with odd numbers of teams but also gives us the ability to provide competition within each category based on team skill. Teams play their first two games to establish their level of play. The result is teams with 2 wins playing in the ODYSSEY division, teams with 1 win/1 loss playing in the ACCORD division, and teams with 2 losses playing in the CIVIC Consolation division.

All teams are guaranteed three games. With this draw system in most cases if you win your third game you will play a fourth game even with two losses. See the sample draws from last year’s tournament for further details.

All games in all categories play 15 minute stop time periods with a flood after either the first or second period.

All Championship Finals are 15 minute stop time with a flood after the each period.
